Living with Class, Palgrave 2013Kristin Lawler is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in New York City. Her first book, The American Surfer: Radical Culture and Capitalism, was published by Routledge in 2011, and her latest essay, “Fix the Tired: Cultural Politics and the Struggle for Shorter Hours,” is included in the edited collection Living with Class: Philosophical Reflections on Identity and Material Culture, published by Palgrave in 2014. Her essay, “The Politics of Austerity and the Ikarian Dream” appeared in Z Magazine in the summer of 2013, and she is currently at work on a new book, Less is More: Shorter Hours and the Future of American Labor.
